Jabs Construction, Inc., a rare fourth-generation family owned and operated company, is fortunate to offer complete design/build residential remodeling services. We are proud of the experience we bring to our clients, which began with a rich heritage of fine craftsmanship.
Albert Jabs, great grandfather of the owners of Jabs Construction, lived most of his life in Germany and eventually immigrated to the U.S. with his wife while their children stayed in Germany. He was a carpenter who hand-built cabinets, doors, windows, and other millwork. He installed many of the items he constructed.
Waldemar Jabs, one of Albert’s sons (grandfather of Chris and Tim), was a builder his entire life. He was born in Germany and immigrated to the U.S. with his brothers and sisters to rejoin his parents. He owned and operated a general building construction company in West Cheshire, Connecticut. He constructed new homes, repaired and remodeled existing homes while specializing in cabinet construction and installation.
In 1978, after 22 years with the U.S. Marine Corps, Walter Jabs, son of Waldemar, decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and started a home improvement company. With Wally as the carpenter and his wife, Madeleine, as the office staff, Wally’s Workshop was formed. Many years of hard work, dedication to quality construction and a personal approach with their clients helped form a strong working base, allowing the company to grow steadily.
In 1985, Wally, Madeleine, and their sons, Chris and Tim, established Jabs and Sons Construction, Inc., with Madeleine as President, Wally as Vice President, Chris as Treasurer and Tim as Secretary. By adding architectural design services, they continued to hone their craft and expand the client base.
With a continued emphasis on quality construction and client satisfaction, the company continued to grow. In 1995, Jabs Construction, Inc. was created. It was formed to be a genuine design/build residential remodeling company. This full-service approach allows us to provide complete contracting services. We will provide a design concept, complete the final design, provide cost estimate and options, and construct the remodeling project.
